I'm looking for a replacement boot lock for a 1974 J-H. My car (19299) came without one. It came from Southern California where a hole into the boot didn't much matter (except for it not being locked), but it rains up here... Delta hasn't got one at all and doubts they will find another. Anyone on this board have an extra, or know where one might be found? Thanks, Dave Thewlis (Humboldt County, California)

Hi Dave Try British Masters located in CA, 1-800-333-0461 or at bmr@4d.net. They're a tad expensive but Erik has lots of parts for all sorts of British sports cars. I managed to get a boot lock from Richard Appleyard in the U.K. http://www.jensen.co.uk/. However it came without the "spring" - which I guessed meant a spring to return the keyhole to the upright position. Unfortunately it appears to mean the piece which secures the lock into position. Not shown in the parts manual or Delta's reductions as far as I can find. Anybody out there have the requisite piece to secure the lock? I'd be delighted to acquire it!

Hi Pete, so far I'm stuck. Complicated by their being no Jensen Healeys in the area - so I can't see what I am supposed to have, and the available diagrams are not informative. So I would definitely appreciate any help very much. What I have right now is the lock unit, with the cylinder, and the rotating nylon cam at the bottom. (And a key.) Thanks! Dave

That's my problem! I have no way of knowing what I don't have because I can neither examine an existing J-H to see what's there or reference a diagram or picture that explains it. When I push the lock unit that I have into the hole in the boot lid, it slides in but nothing holds it in place. I am guessing that there is some kind of retaining spring or lock that it is supposed to slide into that secures it in place (presumably from underneath) and maybe other bits as well, but I don't know. When I try to hold the lock in place with my fingers and turn the key, the cam rotates but doesn't seem to press against the spring-loaded latch that opens the trunk, so there may be something else missing as well, but I can't tell. Is there any new info on bot locks out there? Putting 15800 back together and discovered that the boot lock was missing the clip, and was silicone'd in place. Delta does not have. I was hoping the clips for the door locks were the same, but they are not. Does anybody know where to get? Were the boot locks common to any other car?

Don, In the 13 years since the last post of this thread I don't think anything has changed. What you're looking for is a barrel spring that fits around the lock barrel, it has two tabs that point up and flair out. With a properly complete lock unit you push it through the deck lid hole and the tabs snap the unit into place. The barrel spring is usually what fails. You've got a couple of options, try to get a used one, Bruce(Red Racer)might have one or give British Masters a try. Also, as strange as it sounds there's a possibility you could find a new one through one of the small specialist shops in England. Rejen, for example does mainly interiors but they also do complete restorations and carry a lot of odd bits for Jensen-Healey.

Don: have plenty(used); a little tricky to install, but I could SKYPE you through the installation. Bruce- Thanks! I am getting car back from body shop Monday. They said they would figure out something to put the lock in. I'll see what they did and decide if I want to "fix" it then.
