after death of third fuel pump and approaching holidays I have winterized the Healey. Before returning to the shop I would like to know if there are recommended fuel pumps models for the car. Saw Gregg's specs of 2.5 to 3 psi
any leads would be greatly appreciated.

In my opinion the SU solid state pump would be the best, not cheap though. Or you can go down to the local auto parts store and buy one of the small solid state ones of the shelf, mine has lasted better than 15 years so far. Kind of depends just how much you want to spend. I do carry an extra in the car, so you might want to consider two.

I used a facet fuel pump (http://www.amazon.com/Facet-FEP42SV-Electric-Clamps-Fittings/dp/B0716LFMJ5) that worked well for about 100K miles. For the past couple of years I have had a Mr Gasket version that also works, bought because that was what the local parts store had in stock.

Caution: In my car I have the standard fuel system setup that includes the bleeder valve sending a steady stream of fuel back into the tank. With this and the MR Gasket fuel pump I am getting a steady 3PSI at the carbs when the engine is running that drops to zero PSI in a few seconds when I shut the engine down. With the bleeder line blocked off I get about 4PSI when idling dropping to 3PSI at full throttle. Also, when I shut down the engine, the fuel pressure stays high for a long time and I get fuel dripping out of the front carb after a few minutes. My guess is that the fuel pressure has to leak out somewhere and the leakiest spot is the needle valve going into the Strombergs, which I think are metal-to-metal contacts, which are reliable but not as leak proof as metal-to-rubber.

You can also check out the Moss Motors web site (https://mossmotors.com/), which has several fuel pumps and a pressure regulator which should be compatible.
