I seem to have a stripped wheel lug on one of my rear wheels. The shop manual seems to indicate that replacing these is easy, but I want to know how available new wheel lugs are. Are they a standard item, shared by many cars? Do I need to order one from Delta, or could I go to a junk yard and pull one off of an appropriate donor car? Also, I think I need a new lug nut to go with it. I've seen sets for sale on ebay, but could I buy just one from somebody? Thanks, Edward P.S. be careful not to let anyone overtighten your lugnuts. |

They are not normal lug nuts. Where as most wheels center on the dished out area on the wheel where the lug nuts sit, the JH stock wheels center on the lug nut. Which is why they are hard to get off. They are also aluminum and should not be torqued to 70-80 ft lbs like a lot of steel lugs. The studs are a standard thread though. Ron Last edited on 11-08-2006 07:46 pm by Ron Earp |

I also had a wheel bolt strip just before the safety check. Apparently Delta does not have any so after a bit of a search I found a compatible one at NAPA. The Part Number is 641-1017 and costs $1.69 Cdn. Only challenge is finding a 17/32" drill bit to enlarge the hole slightly. Works fine and passed the safety. Steve |
