Hi all
Aussie Stu again
Ok I went to a car show on the weekend, weather was warm but not volcanic say 29 degrees C outside, car parked under a shady gum tree
So car sat there for three hours, time to go, went to start and it coughed and died
I thought it was crud in fuel filter again, but no
Then I felt the pump, it was very very warm probably hot
I cooled it down with ice and it started???
Any ideas gang
It's a mitsubishi one' usually very reliable, I have a new SU sitting there but have never needed it
Do. Electronic pumps get and or stay hot in the boot, um sorry, I mean trunk could it be a wiring issue, don't want it catching fire
Any thoughts appreciated
Cheers
Stu
PS 29 degrees C = 84 F

There is a recirculation loop that has a flow restrictor in line, I'm thinking your pump may have gotten heated up due to no flow, I'd check that loop and restrictor to make sure it's not blocked in any way. Don't have the plumbing diagram for it handy, but probably somebody does.

I am not aware of a restrictor or recirculating loop. There is a one way check valve and return line that acts as an anti-siphon system for when fuel tank is above carbs.
I am not familiar with your Mitsubishi pump so can’t comment. The interrupter SU gets warm, but not real hot.

Thanks gang
Looked like my new fuel hoses to pump were too long, when I put rear trunk liner board back in, it scrunched hoses, restricted flow and heated pump, I shortened hoses, seems to have fixed, but I have a new SU so I might exchange it as well
Thanks guys
Stu
