Does anyone know where I can find some good quality all metal side mirrors, driver's side and passenger..similar or as original??? Every one I found here in the US is chrome plated plastic and they are easily broken. I bought a set of those expensive Baby Tornados and the base is plastic and one got bumped and broke and replacement parts are not available to my knowledge. And..all I see on eBay are plastic plated with chrome...
Thanks,
Frank Schwartz

The flag style mirror on the later MGB looks very much like the JH mirror and is available in metal. I don't think the short base between the mirror and door, used on the JH, is available.

Hi Frank,

I believe these are the mirrors still being made in the UK. Do a search on ebay for "tex mirrors" and see what comes up. I found either used in various conditions, nos or brand new. A lot of good parts to be found - no plastic garbage. Here is one sample from a seller in Pennsylvania who claims to have multiple units for sale. I contacted him just to be certain they have a metal base.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/TRIUMPH-SPITFIRE-MGB-MIDGET-TR3-TR4-TR6-I-AUSTIN-SPRITE-TEX-MIRRORS-STAINLESS-/191703120196?hash=item2ca2657944:g:wZMAAOSwFnFWCVsX&vxp=mtr

It looks like these new models have a slightly different base than the used ones, but it's pretty close to the original.

Best of luck,
Clinton

Hi Frank!

Got these from Victoria British last year, they are very original looking and you can get the plinth kits as well.

I believe Tex Automotive were the original suppliers of the mirrors, and they are one UK company that is still in business....
