Dear all

I don't usually recommend or plug any supplier but I think the work done by Pete Bahr (yelowdog on this forum) is perhaps a little different - he deals with those common but annoying problems that many others can't or won't.

Over the years here's a sample of 'stuff' I've got from Pete:
  1. Engine damper for the Mk 1 - has reduced vibration and shake considerably. My old one was clapped out;
  2. Hood (bonnet!) gas struts for the GT - I got sick of banging my head on the hood catch, and the developing kink in the bonnet every time someone worked on the car. Pete's solution works perfectly;
  3. 5 speed gearbox shifter linkages - I have just got my rebuilt 5 speed shifter back from Pete and it has really made a difference. I can now tell the difference between neutral and any other gear; and
  4. The clutch lever grommet.
The products/solutions are designed for Jensen cars, but (for me anyway) just as importantly, come with easy to follow and understand instructions so that you can pretty well do the job yourself. Very handy for a mechanical numbnut like me, and adds to the enjoyment of keeping an old car on the road.

Well done Pete, and thanks again.

Hi Chris,

Thanks for the kudos.

Glad I was able to help solve your problems - especially the 5 spd Shifter.  Many owners think that the poor shifting in those cars is just a way of life.

I, too am impressed by your dedication to the marque and engineering prowess. Keep up the good work, I will be in need of some Pete's parts when I install the 5 speed this winter.

Is Pete's Kits still in business. I've tried to phone and email them to no avail. I was interested in several of their products. Please let me know.

I too have been unable to get hold of Pete recently. I'm not sure what the score is.

I sent Pete a PM so hopefully we will see. I see that he has been on the forum as late as Sept of 2013.

Gents,
I tried to order some stuff in May and got a response from Pete's daughter Janine telling me that he had surgery on the 29th May and would be recuperating for a short while.
I emailed Janine again on Sunday to see how he was doing and got a reply today - he is still convalescing. She did say that they intended to go back to Pete's Kits but I don't think that is imminent.
