I'm installing Dellorto DHLA 40's on 11609 and I'm looking for advice on filters. I've seen/heard of different setups. If I get K&N filters, does anyone know what model number?

If I get that setup, would I still need trumpets, i.e. does the K&N house around the trumpets?

Or could I get the trumpets and cap them with trumpet gauzes?

Does Delta carry any of this stuff?

You must have trumpets, those are essential for directing air into the venturis and proper performance. The K&N's mount under the trumpets, you can get the kits from Delta of the Club Store. You could just run some long velocity stacks, but the noise would be pretty unpleasant and you'd still need some kit of filter on the end. It's not a good idea to run without some sort of filter on the end.

Not to take away anything from K&N's but I personally like these they are not chrome but aluminium and have the ribs that match the JH valve covers, paint them black then file of the tops of the ribs and thay match.

Those are neat, I like the design. I think you'll need something for the DHLA (side draught), not the DRLA which are the down draught. I don't think those are interchangeable.

On the trumpet length, from what I remember, the JH size is 45mm

An air box from the Lotus Eclat helps keep the noise slightly below ear splitting. It holds a flat panel air filter and draws cold air from the bulkhead.

Edit: Oh, and it fits the trumpets neatly inside with at least an inch (25mm) of free air space.

The air filter I used is from a Jag XJS 12 cylinder so there's plenty of flow.

Just to clarify, The air filter is from a 1989 Jag XJS and my airbox is an aftermarket reproduction of the Eclat unit. It sounds great!
