I am wondering what methods others have used to remove the pilot bearing. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

Mine was trashed so I used a small screwdriver and a hammer. |

Mine is in fairly good shape. Just replacing it since I am in there and I have no idea of when it was replaced last. Thanks for the info. If it comes to that I will get that hammer and screw driver out. |

I removed mine very easily and without damaging it using the grease method this youtube link shows the method but infact the video makes it look harder than it actually is Mine pushed out with the first tap. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WSGD9UuI5-I |

Got the pilot bearing out. Used the grease method. First using a ball pein hammer and being a little timid which didn't work. Then used a small sledge hammer with some power and it came right out. Took about half a dozen hits, filling the hole with grease between each whack. Not difficult. New one tapped in with piece of wood until it was level, then final seating with a 9/16" deep socket. |
