OK I will quite shouting. Could someone tell me what the evaporative loss control assembly does. I am assuming it has to do with fuel evaporation but I don't know why it is necessary.

It was part of the emissions systems. The goal was to catch those excess gasoline vapours. You won't see it on most JH's these days as it's been set aside along the way. Also, the charcoal cannisters get "used up" over time, and unlike other LBCs they are not rebuildable.

There is a rebuild kit for the carbon cannister inerd's in the Club store for $15.95, but if your housing is shot you would need to get a used one, they pop up on E-bay once in a while. And like Jody say's you really dont need that stuff, it just slow's you down.

Ahhh my ear's are not ringing :>)

How does the carbon canister slow you down?

The unit absorbs fuel vapors and burns them next time you start the car.

Oh, you mean the 8.5 compression, stock cams, short stroke crank and the ZS carbs? Yeah, that system will slow you down! ;-)
