13753 feels so much better now. It had been ailing for a while with a problem others may have had. Someone, who shall remain nameless, broke off the carbon plunger over the rotor in the dist cap. I don't know how it ran at all, but it did. (very poorly) The moral is: install the dist cap VERY carefully. tommyt
