   | I found a bunch of parts at the junkyard. It was a blast loading all the parts in the truck. I loaded an old MK1 907 engine, a really nice 76 GT engine as well as gas tanks, radiators, steering columns, doors,bumpers, bonnets, trunk lids, rocker panels, etc. I was loading the transmissions ( 3) --- 4 speed transmissions  and 2 differentials, but the owner of the yard told me there was a 5 speed differential but could not tell me which was which in the pile of parts. I loaded all the parts and drove home. How do I tell the difference between the 5 Sp. Differential and the 4 Sp differential? There are no marks on the outside that indicate the difference. If i have to break open the differential case, if there a way to tell the difference between the 4sp. and the 5 sp differentials.? Thank you John

   | John, I think you would have to pop the cover and count the teeth on the ring gear to know which is which, and I dont know myself without taking mine apart how many teeth there would be, maybe someone has a spare 4 or 5 speed one out and could do a count for you. Also do you have a very good front bumper in that load of stuff you bought ??? Brett

   | If the large flange and Lockheed brakes are there then it has potential. I remember turning the flange and counting rotation on the drive side. I think you have to prevent the offside hub from rotating. It's pretty easy to tell 3.5 from 3.75 (3.43, 3.73). Kurt
