A friend's 4 speed shift lever came out while driving! She's not mechanical and I can't help her right now. Any ideas how the lever can come out? From a diagram I saw in the Delta catalog, it seems like a plate numbered 35 would be held down by 4 screws keeping the lever in place, so how can the lever come out if the plate (#35) is in place?

http://www.theymightberacing.com/PartsCatalog/PartsCatalogBrowse.aspx?C=2&A=38 I'd say the shifter rod separated from the bushing at the bottom and popped loose.
