 The extra notch should be for the AC compressor, presumably that engine had the optional dealer installed air conditioning put on when it was new.

If you get the engine number, you can look that up in the The Chassis Data Book and see what car it came in. It's located at the back of the block, Federal driver side, near the sump, facing down toward the ground.[
