At 8-1/2" the JH clutch-plate is marginal for any high performance 9xx engine.  However, it's more than adequate for a street car.  If you are in need of something stronger, the later Esprits and Excels used a 9-1/2" clutch (I think) from the Toyota Supra.

It wouldn't take much to machine your JH flywheel to accept the Toyota pressure-plate.  The Toyota clutch-plate would be a natural fit if using the W58 transmission.  Alternatively, companies like can fabricate a custom plate for you.
