 Don't have any photos handy, but attached is a line drawing showing the tray (item 43) for a RHD car.  The one for LHD cars is a mirror image.  In either case, the tray is welded to the body assembly.

Knowing what the base part is supposed to look like should help in interpreting the photos you were asking about, once found.  If you can't find something useful in the JHP photo site, check out the pictures of JHs for sale on eBay.
