Michael,

There is an 'OEM' hartop that comes complete with glass window and defroster.  By OEM I'm thinking it was actually a dealer option and fairly rare.  In addition to this top there are at least 2 different aftermarket ("Snug-top") hardtops out there.

$300 - $500 seems to be the going rate for a hardtop if you can find one; depending on condition of course.

The JH soft-top was criticized in the 1970s press for being a "1950s top", and isn't exactly the most sophisticated way of keeping the rain out.  After years of being frustrated with mine, I took it out and use my hardtop exclusively.

Of course, it is a problem when I'm caught by an unexpected shower.
