When I started the restoration of 15851 the trip meter had gone AWOL! I ordered a new one from Delta, only to find at final assembly that it was about 1" too short! The cable will just reach but it's so taught you can't turn the thimble to reset the trip meter. According to Delta I was the second person to make mention of this. So I tried a used one, which was the same length, and also too short! The distance from the Speedo to the lower steering cowl is fixed so I didn't do anything wrong, or did I? Maybe I should turn the speedo through 180 deg!!!!

Measuring from the flange of the cable that butts up to the back of the speedo, to the flange that butts up to the back face of the cowl my trip meter reset cables are both 8". With an overall length of 9 1/2". Ideas anyone??
