Just dashes is NOT "supposedly outrageously expensive". They ARE outrageously expensive, but at least they are incredibly slow and demand payment up front

There is a flexible auto body filler used for plastic bumper caps and the like that would probably be better than BondoTM.  My problem was that the existing vinyl was so brittle that even the slightest pressure on it would cause cracking and flaking. So filling in a few cracks, sanding, and a coat of "Flex-seal" was not going to do the job.
