Can the Moss 25D distributor for the MG be used, transplanting the guts from my distributor into the new body? Or can a later distributor body be used?

the area on the distributor (aluminum) where the steel ring secures the distributor to the oil pump has fractured and can no longer be secured with the retaining ring. I had previously used JB Weld to hold these pieces together but it broke over the weekend. I knew it was on borrowed time when i put it together, but wanted to enjoy the car over the summer. Can the Moss 25D distributor for the MG be used, transplanting the guts from my distributor into the new body? Or can a later distributor body be used?
