A very interesting and thoughtful post. I think you're right, in the eight years since your original post I'd say prices have risen only slightly. If you're in the market for a J-H and have $15,000 to spend you have your choice of about 99% of what's for sale at any given time.

To expand on your 15/40 premise, I've had an Austin-Healey for years(since '84)and I can't count the number of times I've had someone come up to me and say "I/my dad/my brother/my uncle/my friend used to own one of those". In the years I've owned my Jensen-Healey(since 93)no one has ever approached me with a story of previous ownership. In fact the reason my license plate is "NOOMG" is because I got tired of people coming up and asking "is that an MG" and the reason it's "NOOMG" is because "NO MG" was already taken. Off topic, my favorite plate was on a TR6 in NJ, I don't know how it got passed censors, but it reads "NOFNGMG".
