Here is a cross-section showing how I made the hatch on my GT watertight. I used two pieces of a Woolies seal (reference R679) around the hatch itself, plus a new hatch aperture seal from Robeys (Jensen part 98391) glued into place and with additional black silicone sealant applied around the outer edge. Hope this helps.
