For prying the center plate out without damage i used trim remover tools.

I worked my way around with tool 1 to loosen then with tool 1 still in place along the bottom long edge i put tool 4 in there and pulled it out with no damage to either part. The Badge is some 3-4mm thick and metal (like a belt buckle) so no chance of bending it.

Also tool 4 is going to be handy for removing stubborn fuel/vacuum hoses.
