I have yet to remove the transmission separately so don't know the answer to that. Hopefully someone else will chime in.

On one of my cars I just positioned the bracket where it needed to be, braced it to hold it in position and then drilled new holes for new bolts. Tack welded the bolt heads in place from the top. I have yet to remove the transmission separately so don't know the answer to that. Hopefully someone else will chime in.
