 I've got a 73 Mk I with stock 4-speed. I've also got a spare "low mileage" 74 engine that came with it. I know nothing of the car the 74 came from and have no idea if it was mated with a 4 or 5-speed.

My question is, would there be any differences on the engine if it was originally mated with a 4 vs. 5-speed that could complicate an engine swap? I don't see why there would be but thought I would check as the rule for these cars seems to be expect the unexpected.

Eventually the plan is to do maintenance on the 74 (adjust valves, replace gaskets/seals, timing belt, etc.) and then swap engines.
